I said and jacked my bag from my desk. I slid on my heels and clanked towards the door. I needed to use the female room urgently. As I approached the door I just had to think, Where would I get a fresh pair of panties now? Alex didn’t even attempt to stop me. As useless as they come. I reached for the door handle and turned it…it didn’t budge. I tried turning it over and over again. “The door is locked,” the demon said from behind me. “I can see that!” I shouted as I turned around to face him. He was no longer standing and was seated back on the sofa.

Someone muttered, opening a door to reveal a dead porter stuffed in between other human remains, his face twisted with dread but his eyes were obliterated leaving only black charred remains that were still sizzling with the heat of whatever was used to remove them. "Shit." I hissed, my insides twisting because the only thing I could think of with the power to do this much damage was a demon. And the only demon we knew to be loitering was the one who had taken my mate. "We need to move." I expressed trying to keep my voice level as I slammed the door shut and carried on. The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood, a grim reminder of the violence that had evidently taken place here.
