The hardwood floors are well polished, and the walls are painted eggshell white. Taking one of the combs from the bathroom, I comb through my hair and slip into a fresh set of clothes that I find in the closet. The clothing is obviously for Fallon, so I just borrow a pair of boxers and a plain black shirt. At first, I try to open the doors but quickly realize that it’s locked tightly and get the same results when I try the door. When the demon comes to drop off dinner, he warns me that it’s futile to attempt escaping because all of the windows and doors are warded.

"Are you sure?" He didn't respond, he just walked like the pink panther down the road, no way, to follow her. The impassable, old and worn road that we walked for more than three minutes seemed to have no end, or so she thought. My eyes saw between the gloom of the night and the density of the darkness about three vaults, aligned and ordered by size, one larger than the previous one, two of them were disabled, empty. But only one with lights on indicated that it was used. “It's there,” Abby whispered, “They have a back door that hasn't been discovered, we can go in through that.”

Silent. Cael stood before three ancient doors carved with runes. He threw himself at them. Kicked. Screamed Elle's name. Then the vision blurred and Elle was on the other side, covered in quicksand, pounding back. Fin and Jax arrived seconds later. Fin kicked. Jax blasted sapphire magic. Fin shifted and clawed at the stone. Nothing worked. The door didn't move. None of them did. The vision faded. Fin knew Nova would have been on the other side of that door too and watching his wolf desperately try to break inside only confirmed it more. She would have died too.

"Okay?" "Yes." The corridor was narrow, there were three doors. Over the first was the symbol of three black moons, over the second, a key and the third had nothing. "How welcoming," I murmured. "We can go back." "That doesn't help either." "I'm just saying." "I know." The first door was locked and Nathan tried the handle without magic. Nothing. I looked at the symbol. "Maybe me," I whispered. "Why?" "The domestic key," I said mockingly and his expression hardened.

The other form had a lot of hands and decaying faces which had tears of blood running down their faces sticking out of her shoulders. The last one was the one she usually used and loved, the only difference with her last form was that there were three eyes on her face, the one on her forehead was completely white with no pupil and it saw past most realms and territory, just not the future. Because of her forms she was the only one who could open the three invisible ancient doors. One door was a passage to any territory and realm. The buzzing of the flies, the hum of the refrigerator units, the traffic—it all died. The brick wall behind them—the dead end—dissolved. In its place stood a rectangle of absolute darkness, seven feet tall. It cut through the reality of the alley like a surgical incision. It was a Door. The frame shimmered with a pulsing, violet light. The center was a swirling vortex of black, but deep within, stars spun in a bottomless void. It hummed with a violent, agitated energy, reacting to the raw emotion in the alley—the fear, the hate, and the crushing weight of the betrayal.

But we climbed up in silence, reaching the third floor without making any sound. The restricted section was obvious. A metal gate blocked the corridor, covered in the same shifting symbols I'd seen at the laboratory. Blood wards. Fabian knelt, pulling out his knife. "Three minutes." He cut his palm; his dark blood came spilling out. The patterns he drew on the gate glowed faint red. I watched the hallway while he worked, with my knife out. I started to hear footsteps echo from somewhere; it sounded like it was coming towards us. "Fabian," I hissed.

They blotted out the sun and blue sky with their darkness as they fled from the gate in search of a human host. As if Dannie had always known it, she knew this was a major gate, one that would allow an army through, but required several demons strongly adept in magic. A woman who looked sort of Egyptian, not modern, but the type during the pyramids. She stood in front of a similar rift as before but much, much smaller.

With one leap forward and eyes remaining to my left at the group that is still making their way towards us, I grab the blade just as the Demon turns into a pile of nothing but dust.
