Matteo moves in front of me instinctively. “You can’t be here. This place is neutral.” The angel’s gaze slides to him, dismissive. “Neutrality has expired.” Another angel steps forward, eyes burning silver. “The Sentinel has exceeded his function.”

When I said nothing, he shifted on his knees to face me, a small sardonic smile pulling his mouth up into a smirk. 'This is what they did to us. This is the Mark of the Fallen. The Divine Council made sure that we would find no sanctuary on Earth, because they knew mankind would never accept us in our true form. And who could blame them? We are monsters .'

How’s that falling?” His expression was dark and twisted, his eyes far away, haunted, angry. “Until that day Damian and I were innocent. After that we weren’t. We’d already experienced our fair share of violence from our father, but it never affected us like that day did. The flames of that day they singed our wings and our fall into darkness began. We became who we are today. That’s why the fallen angel is kneeling in pools of blood.”

Samuel I stood from a height as I watched the sky painted red like it had been soaked in blood. It was daytime with creatures in the air falling down with speed as it destroyed places where canons and landmines could be heard. It took me some time to realize that it was demons that were falling like that. I could also make out some angels that stroke as the streets were stained with blood. I heard the cries of thousands, hunger, strife, fear; I could feel it all before I was suddenly in a dark tunnel.

Zane asked, irritated to have been called down for a simple debt collection. “You can say that,” Jax said, he looked serious. Another shriek sounded from within the counting room and Zane had had enough. He walked over, unlocked the door and pushed it open. By nothing but sheer luck the stapler that came flying missed his head and hit the door frame. Zane’s eyes followed it as it fell to the floor with a second crash. He looked up and saw an angel. It took him a moment to realise it wasn’t an angel, but a scared and crying woman.

Sometimes I even felt like I'm actually the Boss and even Lord Serenade himself was just my mere servant. But of course that's hella strange because as far as horror movie tropes made me realize, supernatural creatures were usually kind to a certain human at first so they can somewhat harm them in the end. Like maybe Zayde really wanted to lock me here forever or some creepy shits like making me a vessel so his deceased wife can possess my body and they'll live happily ever after. I didn't even know if he was serenading me at that time or offering my soul to darkness.
