“You look like hell.” Enzo huffed a quiet laugh. “And you look like you haven’t slept.” “I haven’t.” His eyes darkened. “Nightmares?” She hesitated, then nodded. “I keep seeing it. The blood, the bodies… Diego.” She wrapped her arms around herself. “It doesn’t feel real.” Enzo leaned back in his chair, studying her. “It is.” She crossed the room, sitting on the edge of his desk. “Your men lost faith in you.”

But the more I pulled, the more complicated everything became. At midnight, my phone buzzed again. *“The mirror shows what’s hidden. Look closer.”* I glanced at my reflection in the windowpane. The woman staring back at me was pale and exhausted, but her eyes burned with a quiet determination. Slowly, I moved closer, finger trailing the cold glass. And then I saw it — a flicker, subtle but unmistakable. A shadow moving just behind my reflection, a shape that didn’t belong. My heart skipped. ---

Heart racing, Vanadine sought the source of the growl, eventually picking out a shape in the gloom. The darkness loomed around them like a cloak. Sekhmet carried an old-fashioned torch he pulled from a hole in the wall to light the way. It was a bit theatric and unnecessary, considering vampires and werewolves alike could see in the dark. But it set the mood for torture nicely; causing shadows to dance across the walls. A bleeding.

Sometimes, she had a hard time controlling her own shadow, but she completely got a grasp on her dark power when Alice successfully combined the shadow dimension and our infinity power during the war in Tibbertan Mountain.
