He replied. "What?" How could he throw away something she actually gifted him? What was she expecting from a heartless demon? He probably saw it as trash, such a mean demon. "Then. . . . Did you read the letter written in it?" She asked curious to know if he read the letter she wrote where she thanked him and confessed her feelings for him. Deep down, she prayed that he didn't read the letter. She would not be able to stand the embarrassment she would feel if she found out he actually read that letter she wrote. The demon froze for a moment upon hearing her question then he replied. "What letter?" He asked as he looked absolutely clueless on what she was talking about.

Just one line in the letter. "The demons have retreated." If the contents of the letter are accurate, the demons that were supposed to appear in a few months won't appear at all. The demons won't appear for at least six months, if not longer. Due to their need to cross the world's barrier and the need for caution, Ladia was aware of how the demons moved. Otherwise, the world's law would exterminate them all. What was odd, though, was the reason the demons turned away. "I must meet the Rose Goddess."

Piero read aloud. “Demons actually exist?” Demarr asked out loud. Piero glared at her. “Doesn’t God exist?” Piero asked patiently. “Yes, he does.” Demarr nodded. “Do the angels not exist?” Piero asked again. “They do.” Demarr nodded again. “Doesn’t the devil exist?” Piero asked. “Yes, ah. I’m tired of these questions.” Demarr complained. “Then how can you wonder if demons exist, my sister?”

Calix chuckled and kissed her temple before whispering in an eerie tone. “Demons love to break promises.” *****

I'm hopeful that means he isn't afraid of what I'll find. I start at his desk, sifting through neat piles. Most of it is painfully boring, drawing multiple yawns out of me. I only stop once I catch the words 'Demon' and 'Realm.' Frowning, I peer closer. It's a letter sent to Keo from someone clearly involved in his plot. It details the list of Demon's to be transferred and exactly where they will end up. None of these names are familiar, and neither of the place names in this other Realm...I have a lot to learn, if I get the chance.

He looked at her, his smirk returning—the one that made her want to hit him and kiss him at the same time. “Are you ready to stop being a sacrifice and start being a Queen? Because your father left one thing behind that he didn't tell you about. He didn't just have a debt… he had a map to the Eighth Circle.” Elara looked at the key. She looked at Mia. And then she looked at the man she had gone to hell for. “The Eighth Circle?” she asked. “What’s in the Eighth?” Vane leaned in, his breath warm against her ear. “The place where demons go to pray, Elara. And the place where we’re going to find your mother’s soul.”

Having just consumed dozens of fresh souls, her demonic power was absolutely surging, making her twice as fast and strong as before. The two demons clashed. "Please... please don't kill me," Veyron choked out, his hands clawing uselessly at Asher’s iron grip. Asher only squeezed tighter, cutting off his airway completely. Veyron’s eyes began to water and blood vessels threatened to pop from the sheer pressure. "It was the letter!" Veyron suddenly gasped out, the words barely escaping his crushed throat. "It was the letter!" Asher’s eyes narrowed into slits. "What letter?!" he barked, his voice echoing like a thunderclap.

All three demons recoiled at once, as if an explosion had shoved them back. I saw fear in their eyes. Demons. Creatures of the underworld who fear nothing and no one. They were afraid of the disfigured omega who, five seconds earlier, had been a trembling bundle against a tree. Emili stood. But not the way a person stands. She *unfolded,* like a shadow stretching in reverse — fluid, unnatural. Her mouth opened, and a sound came out that was neither human nor animal: a deep hiss vibrating on frequencies that made every hair on my body stand on end.

DARIUS ⚪️⚫️⚪️⚫️ The goddamn words wouldn't change. I read the letter again. And again. My eyes scanned the elegant, mocking script until the ink started to blur. I was searching for a loophole, a hidden meaning, a sign that this was some kind of sick joke. There was none. It was exactly what it appeared to be: a demand wrapped in the silken ribbon of a peace offering. 'Present the child at the next moon council… and prove he’s no threat.'
