“We can buy shoes tomorrow.” Rayne’s mouth tugged into a faint, crooked smile, and his shoulders relaxed. “Right,” he said with a mock seriousness that made her giggle harder. “I’ll get you whatever shoes you want. As many as you can carry as well.” Evalie’s little face turned thoughtful, her brows pinching together like she was weighing the morality of this offer. Then she shook her head firmly. “Asking for that many would be greedy, Daddy. I’m fine with just a new pair. Mommy needs new ones more. Her flats are really old. She’s been using them for a long time.”

Or even a hell no. We’re talking a fucking hell to fuck that damn shit no.”

While Evangeline thought she should drop the books a little and play more, the girl thought the opposite.
