We share the remaining ice cream and eventually get to the other pastries when he says, “Vanessa, I find you very intriguing and different. I want to see what this is. Like I said before, this is not a game, I know what I want and I go for what I want.” “So what are you saying, Anderson.” I ask with bated breath. “I want to pursue you. Narrator’s POV. As Desiree ran to the western territory, she hoped to the gods that he was going to show up. She was finally interested in a man and she also hoped that karma would not play harsh tricks on her by making her chase the guy for once in her life. Disappointment was etched on her face when she got there and he was no where to be seen, she could not even catch his scent at all, she had been stood up by a fucking guy! He was not going to show up and she knew it.

She took off her apron and zoomed off. She needed to get in touch with Joyce or her life will be permanently ruined. She was certain the Joyce Donald the ugly bitch in heels was describing and talking about was her friend. She needed to call her friend now and tell her everything she heard.

His mind raced through every possible escape, but all he could hear was the relentless crackling of the flames, closing in, wrapping around him like a living, breathing thing. The heat blistered his skin, the air too thick to breathe. He could barely see through the haze, barely think past the panic. She was inside, inside that fire. He had to save her. He tried. He called her name, over and over, his tiny voice raw with desperation.
