I could not help it, Desmond just s4eemed to always spring out the worst in me. Desmond looked at the television and scoffed humorlessly. I stood up and raised a brow at him “And when did you become an expert on all things werewolves?” He shrugged “I am an expert on many things Princess” he said. I rolled my eyes “whatever just give me back my popcorn-” he moved it away from me before I could reach it.

Vampires don’t exist, and you’ve got to stop reading all those fantasy books.” Before she could say anything else, I grabbed another slice of toast and breezed out of the apartment. Blood poured from his lips, painting his teeth a sickly red. “Desmond, what the hell happened?” Her voice was trembling, a blend of rage and panic. “How—how did you let it do this to you?”

But somehow, it did. The seller quickly moved on, speaking faster now as he explained parking layouts, utility access, and future expansion possibilities. I noticed the way Desmond listened. Carefully. Intensely. His head tilted slightly whenever someone spoke, like he was measuring every breath between their words. Every hesitation. Every lie. And somehow, despite the heat pressing against my skin, I became hyperaware of him beside me. The sharp line of his jaw. The faint scent of his cologne beneath the dust-filled air.
