My lungs burned as I pressed Nova closer against me, her little fists digging into my shoulder, her muffled cries breaking through the thundering chaos. Vivienne’s laughter cracked across the cavernous space like a whip, sharp and merciless. “You always were the weakest of us, Desmond,” she spat, circling him like a wolf. Her heels clicked against the concrete, the sound eerily steady despite the storm raging around us. Desmond staggered against a beam, his shirt dark with blood, his breathing ragged. Yet his eyes held fire I’d never seen in him before not when he was her pawn, not when he lurked in shadows.

Theo cried out in pain, trying to fight off the attacker. Sarah acted swiftly, leaping at them and trying to slash at the vampire whose reflexes were faster than she could keep up with.

Devin sighed and gave me a pity look. “He’ll come around.” He assured me. “In the meantime, it’s a beautiful day and the sun is up. You wanna go for a walk?” he asked and shrugged his shoulders like it was no big deal, only if he knew what he just did. He just invited a vampire for a walk, in the sun. Good thing I’m a day lighter. “Sure.” I said and stood up from the chair I was seated. “So, what do you wanna talk about?” He asked swinging his arms beside him while staring at my face making me a little more uncomfortable than I already am.

The Vampire wished to see me? I quickly skipped to her side, "Um, excuse me," I began in a soft voice, "The vampire? What is he like?" She chuckled, "oh, he is mysterious, almost dark and ominous. he loves to play games." I gulped loudly, she chuckled again. "Don't be frighten, miss. I'm sure your meeting will go well." Don't be frightened.easy for her to say. She halted at the door and knocked twice.

I ran out before she could ask more questions. Luckily no one stopped me from leaving when they saw the basket I was holding. They probably thought that I went out for herb gathering. The moment I stepped outside the park area, I ran as fast as I could, sprinting through the forest. A gray figure flashed and blocked me. It was a werewolf. "Who are you?" I asked worriedly. The figure's body contracted, and it shifted into a blonde-haired man. "Desmond," the name rang in my brain. He was a very evil man and always enjoys torturing the omegas. I remembered in the future he will try to rape me and was caught; Damian was angry and sentenced him to death.

Desmond’s POV “What you all have here is beautiful. The idea of anything threatening it… of me personally being connected to its destruction…” I stroke my fingers along her scalp. “Nothing is going to be destroyed on my watch. Neither humans nor vampires have managed yet, despite some of their best efforts.” “Vampires?” She shivers. “But they’re one-in-a-million.” “They’re a lot more common than you think. You’ve probably encountered a dozen of them without realizing. They excel at camouflage.”

Desmond defiantly responded. "As you wish," Jorge sneered. "Are you trying to kill Lord Alexander's Doctor? I'm sure you can't do that because you know if you try, Lord Alexander will order the low-rank vampires to cut your head off," A growl came from the other side of the door, and my heart rate quickened. Desmond was really fighting for me, even though he barely knew me. It only proved to me what I already knew - that Desmond was a good man with a good heart.

I nodded, almost infinitesimally, and then I took a step back. Keeping my right eye closed, I grinned around the broken room at the last remaining vampires. There were three: one tall, dark, and would-be handsome (had he not been a murderous blood-sucker); one was short and stout and round, and I wondered how his pot belly and balding head helped him in acquiring a regular blood supply; the other was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen, slim and dark, with a perfectly coifed afro and narrowed green eyes – save for the blood smeared around her sensually curved mouth.
