The insects had stopped their chirping, and the wind had died down to a stagnant breath. From the darkness of a hollowed-out oak, two glowing, amber eyes ignited. It wasn't a wolf. It was a Scourge-Bear—a creature corrupted by the dark magic that bled from the Shadow Packs to the north. It stood eight feet tall, its fur matted with a black, oily substance that smelled of rot.

Monster: Redwoods Forest Brown Bear Monster Level: 21 Health: 30,000/30,000 Attack: 100 Defense: 100 Skills: Thick Fur, Heavy Palm Strike, Reckless Charge Looking at the three brown bears before him, Kirou adopted a feral smile on his face as he spoke, "Try to keep up, my pet." Following those words, Kirou rushed towards the three brown bears before him with just the pair of knives in his hands. Shadow Arachne instead took to the trees and started spitting and wielding its web, completely sealing off the brown bears' future escape paths, as well as constricting their movements.

No snow, dried and cracked ground, and even the trees thickly populating the lands had been dead for so long they were beginning to rot and fall over. The longer I looked, the more heartbroken I felt. Werebears weren’t desert dwelling shifters - they couldn’t live like this. Isaac put a reassuring arm around my shoulders and guided us forward. It felt like crossing through a portal when we took that first step into bear territory simply because of the radical difference in our surroundings. Immediately, I could feel the shift in energy, too.
