Follow, vote, comment and share... Lyka's P.O.V I didn't go to sleep the whole night as I just couldn't. The nightmares will return so I decided to go in the library. I have been seated for over five hours in the damn library with nothing to eat or drink as I read the old books and papers with a smell that makes me want to puke. My eyes have not dared to close on me as I read the thirtieth book. I have not found any useful information that can locate the blood moonstone and finish this once and for all.

Jericho gritted as he watched me grab a duffle bag and stuff clothes and some other belongings into it, "going somewhere?" "Yeah," I moved to the closet and grabbed my leather-bound book. It wouldn't make sense to leave it here. If someone managed to decode it they would get to know of every military grade shipment Gunnar had received and every target I had ever taken out. No, I had to destroy this. I ransacked my drawers until I found a lighter then lit the God damned book and dropped it into a trash can.

I felt so sad. Up until the point where the alpha king took his lighter in his hands and said to me, "I will punish you this time in a different way. I will destroy each and every one of these books right in front of your very eyes, here and now." I stood my ground and shouted at him, "no! no!" in an attempt to get his attention. I could not hold back the tears. "Don't do it! Please, don't even consider doing that!" I jumped in his path and did everything I could to prevent him from continuing, saying "No, please. I beg you. It would be a terrible mistake to burn the books. Please.”

"You can't replace it! No amount of money could replace that book!" Vespera angrily shook off Alaric's grip, marched to the curb, and hailed a taxi. As she sped off towards the publishing house, Alaric jumped in his car and followed at a distance. He watched her go inside, then emerge about fifteen minutes later looking dejected before catching another cab. Curious, Alaric went into the publishing house and stopped an employee. "What was that girl here for?" "Her book was damaged. She wanted to know if we could fix it, but it was torn to shreds. The binding was wrecked, pages missing—there's no way to repair something like that!"

“It would be a disaster. A lot of people are gonna die.” “That would be impossible for them to do while we have the book.” I looked at Zarah. “We need to destroy it.” “Not until I will get the spells in my head.” All wide eyes were pinned on Zarah. Amelia didn’t look like she was on board with the plan. “Didn’t we all talk about how dangerous that book is, Zarah? That book is a temptation from hell, and no one should have access to that kind of power. It always lures you to use it for something evil. It can drive someone crazy.”

I tilt my head to the side, realizing the section of the pages are still sticky, the images had been recently removed. What could have been here that was worth tearing out? Naturally, I'm curious but don't want to pry. He had given me the time to share my story and I'd give him the same courtesy. But what had happened? Could it be what was left of his last relationship? After collecting them, I found one last room in the building. The books were completely destroyed, pages burnt to the point where the words are unreadable, and the leather-bound titles melted into unrecognisable words. One book, however, I found hidden away in a cubby within a desk. Untouched by the fire that turned the rest to ash, I run my fingertips across the words on the cover. It should not fall into the wrong hands. Somehow I doubted it could be destroyed the easy human way. There should be a spell that can destroy a spelled book or object. I just have to keep reading in order to find it. I go back to the bedroom to put back that depressing book on the finished pile. I need to ask Jude for a bookshelf to keep these books stored instead of having them piled up on his small table.
