I closed the door and hugged the opened diary. I knelt down and started thinking of that year. Slowly, I started chanting To thee I bestow my soul, salvage my bane life back in time. A week after, Jimmy and Lord Nylian were having breakfast alone. The table was silent, only the sound of the juice glasses and cutlery setting on the marble table could be heard. The Duke was reading Dreamy Day, the number one newspaper in the kingdom. The writers and editors made sure to include all the things that happen daily in Fantasia, such as the next game of Golden Basket; it's the same concept as the regular Basketball game on Earth, except that it's played in the air. The players are mostly fairies or creatures that have wings. They must pass a kind of silver balloon and throw it on the golden basket that floated peacefully in the air.

It is a diary. I couldn’t help but gape as I was browsing through the pages. I haven’t read a single word yet as I was observing his penmanship. Very neat… and girly? Every page was so colorful and drowning in glitters. It’s like they’re hiding underneath the boring and plain cover of this notebook. My heart raced even more as the hope inside me slowly breaks into pieces. Entry #1 – August 1, 2016 Just a bought a journal today because I have no one to talk to right now. Mom just died yesterday. Stage four, brain cancer. Dad and Venus are both devastated, I can’t even talk to anyone of them right now.

As he began to sift through the documents, his fingers stumbled upon a worn leather journal, its pages yellowed with age. He opened it and paused when he saw the familiar handwriting. It belonged to Carlotta, so why was it hidden among the newspapers and documents? As he began flipping through the pages, he discovered it was a diary from her youth, filled with memories of joy and laughter. Feeling like an intruder, he decided to put it back, but as he closed it, something slipped out from between its pages and fell to the floor.

Andrew looked for newspapers and came back with one printed two days earlier. At a table near the fountain a man sold notebooks and pens. His face was dark from the sun, thin, with a nose that looked recently broken. He tapped a cigarette on the table while he talked. “Diaries,” he said. “Blank. Good paper.” “Old ones?” I asked. He hesitated, then reached under the table. He laid out a small book wrapped in brown paper. “One left. The rest burned.” I opened it. The first page carried a single word written neatly in blue ink: Santuzza. The rest were blank.
