Mira lay a few steps from me, her eyes open but empty, blood at her neck. Near her, I saw others from the pack; Silas, Sera, even Mary, all lifeless, their throats torn or their chests clawed open.
I stumbled back, shaking. “What is this?” I whispered.
Aldric didn’t move. He just watched me. His face was calm, his voice soft when he finally spoke.
