The Last Station Standing
In the center sat the Resonance Engine (the massive alien machine designed to rewrite the planet’s DNA).
It was a nightmare of concentric rings, miles wide, spinning with a silent, terrifying grace. At the very center of the rings was a glowing violet sphere—the Stabilizer Core (the power source of the engine). And suspended within that core, held by threads of pure energy, were two figures.
"Dad," Elara whispered.
Beside him was another figure, smaller and glowing with an obsidian-purple light. It was Jun. He wasn't a prisoner; he was the Neural Hub (the central biological processor for the machine).
