It amazed me for a moment that he could make such vicious-sounding snarls and then, moments later, let out a beautiful howl that warmed my core. She offered me a stiff smile, her eyes darting between Connor and me, a silent plea for normalcy in a situation that felt anything. “He loves dinosaurs, you know,” she said, her voice strained. “He'll be thrilled with this.” I nodded, forcing a smile. “I hoped so. I thought he might like it.” Connor sat propped up on the sofa, his pale face illuminated by the flickering light of the television. Blake boomed. Anger built in Conner’s eyes. He brought out his claws and fangs. He lunged at me. His claws cut my shirt and skin, but I got away. His venom stung though my willpower kept me standing. Conner utilized his speed and grabbed me. He pinned me against the wall and barked out a victorious laugh. “Good, Conner. We’re taking her back to Broken Creek tonight,” Blake smirked as he spoke. “No,” I whimpered.

Worry starts to consume me and I debate if I tell the man what Conner really is and then I thought I have nothing to lose at this point. “If you hand Conner over to her you are making a grave mistake.
