The marble floors that usually shone like perfect mirrors were muddy now, covered with dirt and something darker that made my stomach turn. The great hall erupted with overwhelming noise as I pushed through the crowd of adults. Everyone was here—every single pack member, every warrior, all pressing forward desperately to see something I could not quite reach. Then I finally saw what was causing all the chaos. Papa knelt in the center of the room, his strong hands tied cruelly behind his back. Blood dripped steadily from his split lip, staining his torn shirt. His eyes found mine across the chaos, and the fear I saw there stopped my heart cold in my chest.

No one seemed to notice that through the shattered door, a pile of snow had appeared at the doorstep. In all that noise, suddenly, the cage moved. A strong blow of wind made it through the door and blew off the tissue covering the cage. The crow, which was supposed to be dead, stood on its two legs. It spread its wings, trying to catch the wind. It seemed to be ignoring everybody else. What’s more, there was no trace of vomiting. Only one red stain, probably Bianca’s blood, was left on one of the golden bars. “HIP, HIP!”

Then he said, "Well, I can't seem to find him. He left the doctor's house and miss Sarah and Old Mikey went after him. Since then, he seemed to have disappeared into thin air." "So they accompanied him?" "Yes, they did. And now, we may have two people who really know about his whereabouts. Or not." "And why wouldn't they know about his whereabouts?" the Mayor asked Clint. "Well, we have to consider the possibility that John Crowe might have left this place in a rush. Because he followed the road that led out of town." "And how would he know that's the road leading out of town, Clint?" the Mayor asked. "The people he asked for directions to David Holt's house told him that."

Zhi uttered angrily clutching the remaining person's collar, planning to strangle him. "Who are you? Do you want to fight? Huh?" the center guy stated. Seeing the color of the clock they are wearing, they snickered, "So, you lads are in the east house? You're also so aggravated which means that weakling was your teammates, heh~"

’’ Toby grinned sheepishly. ‘‘Alright then, let’s hit the road!’’ Tammy was enthusiastic as he ran to the driver seat while the rest cheered and entered the SUV. After a two-hour drive, the crew arrived at Crescent creek; it looked like a place that could have had a total population of ten people, the friends included. The buildings there hardly looked modern; the atmosphere seemed totally ominous, causing the friends to feel uneasy.

Nicko shrugged and said nothing more. He let his father reminisce about his old friend while continuing to talk about her. This is none of his business anyway. Seeing more and more guests arriving, Jamie Lynch immediately put on a face that was so haughty and arrogant. He also introduced a young man beside him to all the reunion participants. “Everyone, introduce this is my son-in-law Jerry Crowe. Currently my son-in-law works in information technology and has set up his own company. Currently establishing a company in the center of informatics business development.”

Mom asked awkwardly. “Good morning, Mr. and Mrs. Vera,” Crow greeted politely, with a slight bow. “Sorry for interrupting, but I wanted to ask permission to take your daughter out for the day. I’m Crow Dallas, by the way.” Mom instantly smiled, stood up, and shook his hand. “I’m Macy Vera, and this is my husband Victor, though everyone calls him Vic.” Dad, followed. “Nice to meet you both,” Crow said respectfully. “I’d like to formally ask for your permission to spend the day with your daughter, if that’s alright.”
