Her Dirty Little Games
I looked around the house.
It was clean. Actually clean… not just surface-wiped but deep-cleaned, the baseboards, the windows, the kitchen I could see through the archway gleaming under the afternoon light. It smelled like fresh linen and just faintly of wood polish, and someone had opened the windows before I arrived so the air was moving through.
"It looks incredible," I said quietly, and I meant the house.
"Zara wanted it to feel like home," Darius said. "She said you'd be tired when you got here. Said you should be able to walk in and just... breathe."
