Forgot to tell you sooner. He had sent me messages almost three hours ago. I smile and reply. Me: That’s Ok! Sorry I didn't answer you sooner. I didn’t feel like attending, so I skipped. As we reach home, I behold myself to receive some lame one-liner about skipping classes. Some of his jokes are funny, but sometimes these are so stupid it makes me chuckle, wondering why does he even bother? “Did you know that a waffle on a California beach is called a Sandy Eggo?” He had tried this joke last evening.

I told him, slowly, so it'd get into his brain quicker. He shrugged, then spoke, "Whatever the weirdo says. Don't you think you should be giving these orders at the Adult Home where you belong?" His minions—Daryl, Josh and Drake—burst out laughing. He looked smug, like he'd just won an award for best comedy. This was why highschool bored me. Hearing about work, Adrian starts pouting at Zhu Wushang who's smiling wryly. “Work, Work, Work Why adults like work so much. I once asked my father if work is fun but he said no, then why do adults still like work so much?.” Asked Adrian innocently. Zhu Wushang didn’t say anything, he just smiled thinly before picking Adrian up and putting him down on his lap to let Adrian see what he’s doing. He then moved the paper in front of him toward Adrian, just enough for Adrian to see what was written on it.

“This is where you wanted to come?” “Yeah.” “Isn’t this place for little kids? How old are you again?” “Who says amusement parks are just for kids? There are a ton of rides made for adults too. Don’t tell me you’ve never been to one before?”

I applauded Wendy when I managed to control my amusement. "I do now. I tell corny jokes too. Do you want to hear one?" He winked and altogether we laughed into the night.

I burst out laughing so hard I nearly choked on my soda. Jenna looks deeply unimpressed. “Yeah, real fucking funny,” she mutters, side-eyeing both of us. “Keep laughing, you bunch of soggy mofos. I’ll remember this when you two need someone to body a man for you in public and I’m too busy teaching spin hooks to felons named Big Maria.” Dawn snorts into her drink. “You’d thrive in there, don’t lie.” “Shut up,” Jenna says, but she’s already smiling.

He made me laugh, a genuine, bubbling sound that felt good after the fear. “Your turn,” he challenged, when he finished. “Tell me a joke. Something to keep the darkness at bay.” I thought for a moment. “Okay, okay… What do you call a fake noodle?” He raised an eyebrow, a slight smile playing on his lips. “What?” “An impasta!” I delivered the punchline with a flourish, and he actually laughed, a deep, booming sound that warmed the room. “Alright, alright, that was a good one, for a rookie,” he teased. “My turn. Why did the scarecrow win an award?”
