I shove the phone into my pocket and start walking to the car, the sound of my boots pounding against the pavement.
By the time I slide into the driver’s seat, I’m already calling Kai. He answers on the first ring.
“What’s up?”
“Abel Laurent is dead,” I say flatly.
“What?”
“It was a clean job,” I continue, my voice rushed, “but I need you to check the clinic footage just to be sure—”
“Whoa. Slow down. What the fuck are you talking about? What clinic? You killed him?”
But I can’t slow down, not when several things are happening at once. “Brixton Wellness Clinic and Spa. Gabriella is missing. I need to find her now, so do this for me while I do that.”
