A bird landed on the path in front of us. Small. Brown. It hopped twice. Pecked at something invisible in the dirt. Flew away. Gas shifted. Put her head on my knee.

But moments later hopped into her palms. "There you are," she mouthed. The bird chirped softly. Unlike people, animals rarely scare her nor make her wary. They didn't care whether flowers died around her. They didn't care about auctions. Or beauty. Or value. They never harmed her or made her anxious of not being good enough. She carried the bird toward a small wooden shed hidden behind the gardens. Inside were dozens of makeshift nests. A rabbit with a damaged leg. Three recovering doves. A fox cub missing part of an ear. One kitten. A family of squirrels.

Chapter 210 Writers POV _________ Laura smiled as she saw her emerge out of the blue. The bird looked pitch black, and it seemed to have left its host. It flew right towards Laura and whispered some words into her ears. After which it was done, it turned into dust and evaporated. “Ooh wow, is that so?” Laura giggled happily. The news she heard was quite befitting and could be molded to her advantage. Her day had never been brighter, just after hearing the news, she felt like she could accomplish anything.

“Yes.” His uncle turned around, and walked back towards the house. Without second thoughts, Cal began to descend further down into the wide backyard, towards the other end where Miss Shaw now held Nova’s hand as they stared up in the sky, watching a large host of birds, migrating for the night. “That one is slow.” Nova turned to point to the other end at a bird who was barely catching up with its mates, a long distance between them. “Yes,” Miss Shaw said, her eyes following the direction of Nova’s pointing finger.

Almost dead, he was covered in fire light. With his head heavy, he raised it to see a brilliant bird flying over head. The bird was on fire. It circled him. Urged him to follow. The Rogue crawled in the direction of the birds flight path. It screeched from the sky. Urging him further. He climbed this mountain and saw a body of water. He crawled to the edge, but his heart gave out and he died. The bird was saddened by this because she could feel his pain. With all her strength, she pick up the Rogue

After I got it I pulled out a chair and sat in front of the table near it by the window. "Deceptive," I read in the written title of the book, I opened it in turn and what popped up to me was a picture of a large creature that was half human and wolf, its body full of feathers. “He has no death, to this day he is still alive, trying to save the woman he first loved and wants to be with for life,” I read here. There was some spark that flowed through my being. I wasted no more time and I opened the book, but my torn eyebrows met its pages, even if I looked over and over I could not read anything, until I got to the back of the book and there was I noticed a very small letter.

I hissed. But the bird didn’t fly away. Just tapped its beak against the glass again and glared at me as if saying, “Open up, idiot.” Typical. Of course Zelda’s pet bird would be just as stubborn as she was. I leaned forward and peered out the window, seeing nothing out of the ordinary outside; everything was peaceful, quiet. The bird appeared to be alone. Finally, I unlocked the window and pushed it open just enough for Mel to hop inside. The damn thing strutted across my windowsill like it owned the place, then lifted the leg that was carrying the paper.

I whisper again, fairly sure no one is supposed to know about this, seeing the words on the letter. He lowers down a little, and his beak taps the note in my hand. “You want a reply?” That’s when he starts dancing through the room, nearly causing me to chuckle. I guess that’s my answer. “I’ll try and come.” Excited he swirls around me twice before flying out of the window again. The note in hand diminishes magically. How is it even possible that we talk to people who don’t understand what we’re trying to say, but a half non verbal conversation with a bird seems to function so easily?
