I know who it is just by his scent, "Come in Xander." The door opens and in walks my best friend and Beta. "Sorry to disturb you, you have a call," Xander explains as he comes to stand beside me. "Who is it?" He raises an eyebrow, "It's Pete." Pete? I haven't heard from Pete in ages. Pete was a member of our pack during my uncle's reign. My uncle killed his entire family including his infant sister while he was away visiting his aunt. When he found out, he denounced our pack and went rogue. We stay in touch every now and again, I even invited him back into the pack, but it was too hard for him to come back home knowing that his family was killed here.

Senthaiz smiled, grateful for the presence of her furry friend. With a gentle pat on Poppy's head, Senthaiz knelt down to meet her at eye level. She whispered sweet words to her companion, expressing gratitude for the unwavering companionship and comfort Poppy provided. The man had his teeth sunk into my dog’s hind leg.

"Did you draw this? She asks in a weak voice. He nodded, and he let go of his baseball bat and sat beside her. "Amazing." She mumbles. He smiled, "You think that's amazing. Check this one out," he said while handing her another notebook. "It's a comic. I made it. It's about a crime-solving detective like Sherlock Holmes, but mine is French. The name is Hank Devereaux, and he has a dog named Yoda." He explains enthusiastically. She smiled, and he noticed her eyes finally conveyed emotion. His heart was filled with delight.

“Come on in guys.” Xander walks in first and immediately kneels down and says, “Nobody told me there would be dogs here! Hi guys, what are your names?” He says kneeling down to the floor, scratching behind their ears. “It’s cool, I guess I just don’t exist. Handing her puppy over, I said softly, “It's fine, sweetie. Make sure you keep your eyes on him. He is still too young to be out on his own and could easily get hurt.” The girl nodded and then shifted her eyes over to the grumpy man that was next me, still obsessively dusting himself off.
