I start with a small sip, but it’s fresh and sweet and I like it, so I take a few bigger swallows before I hand it back.
Car Dude is awkward now, standing over us with a hand in his pocket, the other so tight on his drink I’m waiting for the glass to shatter. Sharp shards, ice. Booze and blood. All over his clean floor. Another layer of shine on his tiles.
“So what now, ladies?” he says. He’s talking to my mother but he’s still watching me. Those glances to and back that tell me where his eyes want to stay.
“You got any Oxy?” I say.
