“What makes you so sure she’s dead? How can you say that like you’re so certain?”
“Because I am ,” he said quietly.
“Then prove it,” I said. My heart was racing now. “Where is she buried?”
Silence.
Then he answered, cold and simple.
“She wasn’t buried.”
I froze.
“What?” I whispered.
“Her body was never found.”
A short, sharp laugh left me before I could stop it. I shook my head.
“Now you’re really messing with me,” I said. “So she’s dead, but not buried, but her body was never found? Do you even hear yourself, how are so sure she’s dead?”
