Burying Our Love in the Past
Or rather, back when he was still in my life, I had already forgotten how to smile like that.
When our food arrived, he took a bite and found it wasn't to his liking. Yet, he didn't complain. He finished his food, one mouthful at a time.
Because this was my life now, and he wanted to know what kind of life I had been living after I left him.
"Rose." He set his cutlery down. "I'm sorry."
He had apologized numerous times before, but this time, his voice trembled.
