JORDAN “The meeting will be starting soon, young master.” That’s the first thing I hear this morning. No good morning. No polite knock. Just my assistant’s flat voice cutting through the haze of sleep like a knife. I sit up too fast. The room tilts for a second, my skin too warm, too tight. Damn it. Not now. Heat is creeping in. I can feel it, slow and sharp like a warning. It won’t be long before it hits full force.

- Doris, are you asleep? Doris is aware that Wynn is going to continue sleeping since she is well beyond her bedtime and does not feel like interacting with anybody else because she is so exhausted. Riffen was the only person she ever wanted to see again, and she really wanted to have a conversation with him about everything, but it was impossible.

“Let’s just go to bed.” Elliot watched me for a second before reaching out to stop me from walking, “Alright. We can go to bed, but if you don’t feel well you have to wake me up. Don’t let yourself deal with it alone just because you don’t want to bother me.” he tells me. I nod as I look at the ground nervously before glancing back to him, “I promise.”

When he was asleep, I gently lay him down on the bed and disentangled from his embrace. I unbuttoned his shirt and sighed with relief when I realized the stain on his shirt was just red wine. I removed the shirt from him. He stirred in his sleep but did not wake up. I tossed the shirt on the floor, reached for his belt, and unbuckled it. I dragged down his pants, leaving him with only his boxer briefs. I quickly covered his waist with the blanket, not wanting my thoughts to wander.

“Take a nap. I’d rather miss our flights than have you fall asleep behind the wheel. If you died, Jim, it would kill me.” “Stop thinking about it,” I tell her, knowing she’ll start crying. This new emotional side annoys her, but I find it charming. “I have time for a short nap, and I’ll grab some espresso on the way.” “Naps make me feel more tired sometimes.” “The trick is not letting yourself get to REM sleep. You have to wake up before then.” “Right. I think I’ve heard that before. Go home and rest. Call me when you leave, please?”

Irene complained. However, because she insisted on not sleeping with Noah, Irene kept trying to close her eyes until she finally fell asleep. After a few hours, Irene opened her eyes again and looked at the clock on the wall, which read 1 a.m. It's been about 2 hours since she laid down on the sofa, and Irene still can't fall asleep because she feels uncomfortable. Irene rose from her seat on the sofa, carrying her pillow and bolster into the bedroom. When her steps came to a halt beside the bed, she began to sigh and looked at Noah, who was fast asleep.

At some point between waiting and overthinking— I fell asleep.
