# Chapter 5 – Valentina’s POV The words hang in the air like a death sentence. ‘Week’s up.’ I’m sitting on the edge of the bed, still in the oversized silk pajamas Sofia brought me a few days ago which was soft, expensive, and completely useless against the chill that just crawled up my spine. My hands are clasped so tightly in my lap that my knuckles are white. I can’t look away from him.

I went to bed. I did not fall asleep for quite a long time.

He reaches for the sedative. "Don't, help!"

She exclaimed "Hmm, where will we" Divya and Aman said in unison, seating themselves next to Pratibha, rested their heads on their palm and dreaming with Pratibha - Aakash honked at the car infront of him as he found himself stuck in another inevitable traffic jam. "It's green you morons, move!" he muttered under his breath as he honked again, his engine ready to sail through, until the signal became red again. He turned off the car to save fuel, it seemed like they had some time in hand till it turned green again. He looked at his brother seated beside him, checking his emails on his phone.

Damn this brute! "You just sleep an hour…"

Maybe, just maybe, she'll help me find the freedom I’ve been craving. As I lay in bed, my hands and feet crossed, staring up at the ceiling, I was too excited to even think about falling asleep. The anticipation of seeing Mia tomorrow kept me wide awake. I decided to try calming my restless mind with some soft instrumental music, hoping it would help me drift off. After a few minutes, the soothing melodies began to settle my thoughts, and soon, I felt my eyelids grow heavy. Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep, the music still playing softly in my ears, the headphones still in place, as I slipped into a peaceful, dream-filled rest.

I recently got a glowing light that had stars and moon designs in the middle which gave my room that under the moonlight vibes. I blew out a deep breath and tossed around on the bed. I could not sleep or even find any peace. Closing my eyes for brief minutes, I remained silent and thoughtless. They say when you do not do anything for some minutes in bed, you would fall asleep. I remained for more minutes and waited for sleep to engulf me but it did not. I groan out angrily and rose to my feet. Maybe I should take a bath.

I was still paralyzed, my hands gripping the edge of my desk. Jayden barked out a dark, cynical laugh, completely unaffected by the jab. "Don’t act like such a virgin." He tossed himself onto his mattress, pulling his blanket up without even taking off his jeans. Within minutes, his breathing evened out into the heavy rhythm of sleep. The room was completely quiet again. I slowly put my headphones back over my ears, pretending to focus on the glowing screen, but the document in front of me was just a blur of white light. My fingers hovered uselessly over the keyboard.
