He had seen the worst in humans and they could still surprise him. There were people like Katrina, and then there were also people like him. Sometimes there was even a difference between the two, but he also knew better, or, more accurately, he knew better than most. He knew not to trust everyone. Trusting everyone meant accepting that he wouldn’t get what he wanted, and he was afraid of that. Afraid that if he accepted things, they wouldn't be worth getting. Afraid that the only thing that mattered was the result of his decision. And the truth was, he wasn't sure he was ready to give that up.

I know I can be an easy target for deception, something Val used to always remind me of, but believe it or not, I’ve learned my lesson. To a large extent, I’ve managed to resist the temptation of trusting everyone I come across. I constantly remind myself that there are genuinely bad folks out there, and it’s totally fine to watch out for myself. It’s okay to question someone’s intentions, and it’s more than okay to say no if something doesn’t sit right with me.

I can handle myself just fine. I'm not actually friendly back then. I'd rather be alone than make some friends which are all fake because in our era, everyone will just betray you without you knowing. In this world, trust is a word that you shouldn't give to anyone but in this era, I can easily give it to anyone since I know how to read people if they're true or not and I can see that they have no bad intentions against me. Everyone here is kind but some are still kinda off for me, that can't be helped.

But complete distrust is isolating. Both get people destroyed.” She went quiet. I closed her file gently. “That will be all, Miss Brooks.” Her eyes widened slightly. “Ma’am, I—” “We’ll get back to you,” I cut in, my tone leaving no room for argument.

SOME OF THEM mean WELL AND ARE TRYING TO PROTECT HER, BUT OTHERS. OTHERS MAY BE WORKING FOR THE VERY PEOPLE WHO WANT HER DEAD. IF SHE EVER READS THIS, I WANT HER TO KNOW: DON'T TRUST ANYONE COMPLETELY, NOT EVEN SOMEONE YOU LOVE, UNTIL YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN OF THEIR MOTIVES. THE PERSON WHO SEEMS MOST TRUSTWORTHY MIGHT BE THE ONE WITH THE MOST TO HIDE.

I will do everything in my power to make sure we don't stay here forever. This life...this is not the kind of life that anyone would want. It is just too dangerous and you end up losing yourself to this world to top it all off, you have to watch out for your damn life every second of the day cause you never can tell where danger is coming from. Putting your trust in just anyone is equivalent to wrapping a rope around your neck. This world is wired in a way that you don't even get one moment of peace. You can't live life without watching your back. You can't share things with someone without worrying...without thinking that maybe...maybe this person is out to get you. You can't even keep frie

Trust is a tricky concept, when you earn it from someone you should make sure it stays intact. One wrong move, one lie, one mistake and everything can go to hell. When you trust someone and they break your heart ones, you should know what you have to do next, pick them up and throw them away from your life. These kind of people are toxic, they manipulate you again and again, and like a fool that you are (I mean ME here) give them chance after chance to prove ‘you’ wrong. Speaking from experience, “when you have only one chance, you cannot fail” that’s how we could describe trust, one chance is all you need and all you want.
