Arrays of tools are seated atop it. I even recognized some of it. Grinders and drills, different kinds of saws, and hammers from small to mallet size. Screw drivers and nails. Even guns. I couldn’t breathe, and even though I was trying so hard not to show any fear, I couldn’t help but tremble at the sight of them.

It was the slave branding. An ear-splitting shout burst from my lips, sharp as a whip crack. I tossed and trashed, but I was held tightly until Doom was satisfied, until I couldn't scream anymore. From my eyes that were weak and almost closed, I saw the small coal fire that had the rod in it, burning crystal red. My gaze shifted to see the smirk dancing on Alpha Ryker's face; a satisfying one. The world blurred through my vision as I sobbed. Removing the chain from the pole, Doom exited and the room was left to just the two of us. I stumbled back, trying to wedge the heavy robe over my shoulder and the chains that bit into my skin.

A loud roar erupted from my throat as black chains burst forth from the runes, aglow with red embers. I swung the chains forward and they coiled like snakes, impaling the first two men through the chest. I yanked both chains back, and their bodies were lashed across the cathedral, crashing into pillars with a wet crunch. The others screamed, keeping on with their charge. I spun around, thrusting one hand to the left and a cascade of chains burst forth from my hand, whipping across the air. One of the men raised his shield to block them, but the chains seared through it like butter and wrapped themselves around his neck. I pulled forward and his head flew off.

The Reaper hits with a meat-heavy thud and slides down, motionless. The third Reaper—the driver—scrambles for his gun. Drakon releases the chain. He whips it. The steel links strike the man’s hand, shattering bones. The gun clatters to the asphalt. Drakon charges. He’s a demon. A monster of leather and vengeance. He tackles the driver, driving him into the dumpsters. The metal bins crash and tip, spilling garbage everywhere. Drakon wraps the chain around his fist. He starts punching.

Jazmine grabbed the chain from the ground right before Abbadon swung the Sword of the Doombringer to her. The chain wrapped around the sword, and Jazmine dodged it just in time.
