After the door closed behind Dorian, I stood there for a while before slowly lowering my eyes. There was no need to say goodbye to Dorian after all. Not long after, Calista posted another TikTok. In the video, the pup was standing in front of a moonstone backdrop while a white ceremonial gown hung behind Calista. Her caption read, "Family portrait today, Moon Goddess blessing tomorrow." She never showed the man's face, but the hand adjusting the pup's tiny bow tie bore the black ring I had chosen for Dorian.

Dorian's mouth twitched slightly and then he placed something on the table. It was a book. I blinked. It wasn't flowers, jewelry or anything remotely romantic. It was an old strategy text, it looked beautiful with leather binding and hand-pressed pages. It was rare enough that I immediately recognized it. My eyes widened. "Dorian..." "I saw it at an estate auction." I carefully picked it up and the condition was incredible. "You bought this?" He shrugged. "It seemed like something you'd appreciate." The gesture caught me off guard not because of the gift itself but because it meant he paid attention.

“How disgraceful!” “Outrageous” “How can one dress so senselessly?” All these comments flooded the air once she stepped in. ”why I you mean-“ The door suddenly swam open, both our beds turned to see who it was and there my savior was standing at the doorway with an unmoved look on his face. “Come here Summer, you walked into the wrong room.” Trey stretched out his arm, calling to me. “Sorry about that Dorian.” Dorian? Wait! This tall handsome figurine is his elder brother Dorian? I turned to him again, my eyes trailing at his countless tattoos that spread across his upper shoulder to his left arm. For a moment it seemed I had seen them but didn’t pay much attention to it, I needed to get the hell out of here.

But as I approached Dorian’s office, I heard his voice through the slightly open door, speaking urgently on the phone with someone. “Elder Rex, I’ve told you already and I won’t say it again,” Dorian was saying, his voice sharp with barely controlled frustration. “The woman you brought to my pack house cannot be my mate. I don’t care what blessed bloodline she has or what powerful alliances it would create with her family. I don’t care if she’s descended from the Moon Goddess herself.” There was a pause where Elder Rex must have responded, then Dorian’s voice came again, harder this time.

Dorian was a man of the world, and this girl was a lot hotter than his slut of an ex, Chloe, that he’d spent the last six months with. As Dorian looked into the Dragon’s eyes he saw that they were a deep, burning purple. His soul was impaled with terror as he locked eyes with this creature. They shone like burning embers, and the monster smiled at him, opening its left mouth to emit a disturbing growl. Whatever this thing was, it sure wasn’t from this dimension. While this monster was penetrating the woman, it was screaming and shrieking louder and louder. Dorian stood there, dead in his tracks, mortified.
