Thinking about Warner’s attitude and the things she had said, Dora pointed at her viciously. The instant Patrick heard that Dora wanted Warner fired, he looked at Warner on reflex, silently asking what she had done. Warner pushed up her black framed glasses and answered evenly, “If Mrs. Wright believes I should be fired for refusing to flatter her, then the company will need to compensate me accordingly.” “Enough,” Patrick cut in quickly. She was still talking? It was one thing for her to be strong willed at work, but did she really have to bring that same energy to the chairman’s mother?

Portland was a distant memory, and I couldn't care less about being there if Dane wasn't a part of it. It had been a few weeks since the night that Dash had attacked me, and Dane had been by my side every step of the way as I healed from the trauma. He had been my rock, my protector, and my confidant, and I had grown to love him more with each passing day.

His body twitched due to the noise, and his sensitive ears perked up. "What the fuck?!" He rasped, looking above his head where the bullet had pierced. Smoke sizzled from the area, and Trevor narrowed his eyes as he glimpsed the green liquid dripping down the glass wall. "wolfsbane." He let out a grunt. He wouldn't have died if the bullet hit him, but he knew he'd be severely injured because wolfsbane was a bane to his kind of specie. Due to the different genes he had in him; he would have collapsed as soon as he was hit but not dead. Trevor was aware it would take a lot of things to kill him off, but he didn't know what yet.

I scowled at her head, wishing I'd said more hurtful things. The car drove past our mansion but one window in particular caught my interest. The window that had caused everything! Grimacing, I inwardly said, really feeling the love, I thought with as much sarcasm I could muster.

He was waiting for Eddie to challenge him on it. "I don't doubt that. It's just the first time I'm seeing her. How do I know we can trust her?" I had to admit, Eddie had a point there. Gunnar sighed, "This is Danny's sister," he spared me a glance before a sinful smirk tugged the corner of his lip upward, "and Theo Harper's daughter." I could tell he was enjoying this a little too much. This was a better form of revenge for him than forcing me to work at his architectural firm.
