I stepped closer, anger burning through my chest. “So you just let me drown? You stood by while Elise, while Daniel, while all of them used me like I was a pawn?”
Nathan’s voice dropped, low and steady. “I wasn’t strong enough then. But I am now.”

He reached into his coat and pulled out a folder, thick and weathered, edges crumpled from being handled too often. He held it out to me.
