“Hehe, Argent is so arrogant and has a big appetite, asking for more despite already taking my divine weapon.” The man took off his mask made of human skin and revealed a weather-beaten face. He was not old, but his face was distorted as if his skin was burned, which looked terrifying.

He sighed and brushed his hand in his hair the other hand resting in his pocket and he stopped smiling and said in a deep voice, “Seeing you now is risking my life, you know my first name and for the first time I am not afraid to take such a step.” He turned to me and this time he looked straight in my eyes and he continues, “I will try and come back here to see you. But if I can’t and you can recognize me without my mask when we meet once again, then I won’t hesitate to be yours forever. This I promise.”

He lit another cigarette and took a long drag, and exhaled through his nose smoothly. Her heart cartwheeled when the burly and lanky removed their masks following suit. The burly one with dark eyes, had his long hair secured in a band at the base of his neck, his facial hair covered his round face and most of his unremarkable features. The lanky had an angular face with round eyes, a slightly big crooked nose, and thin lips with a five o’clock shadow.

He wanted to approach and hug Amore but he felt embarrassed. He was contented to just watch his friend first. He was also happy because she was safe. It’s his fault why she almost perished at Regor’s hands. "Are you all ready? One, two, three-," Astra said then they removed the masks at the same time.

After returning home, I followed my memory and rushed straight toward the room that belonged to my son, Andy. “Andy? Buddy? Andy, Daddy's home.” The household staff stared at me in shock. At first, I thought it was because of my face. So, I quickly pulled out a wrinkled mask and put it on. I didn't want to scare Andy when he saw me.

I asked, squinting my eyes to make out the real face behind the mask, as I walked closer. “I am your Doom.” She answered with a cocky smile. “Doom.” I repeated with furrowed brows, “why?.” The question came out of no where. She gazed at me like I had grown several heads, she was surprised, maybe she expected me to shiver at her response. I knew fully well she was the masterminder behind the Voltraks and other creatures attacks, but Why?. From her claws, I could make out she’s a werewolf but why will she be against her kind.

Blood dripped onto the cracked altar in fat dark drops. The mask burned against my face, so I clawed at the straps and tore it free. Cool air hit my ruined skin. I groaned low in my throat as fresh pain bloomed across my cheekbones and jaw. Just then the wind rose suddenly and sharply. It carried low, mocking and ancient laughter. The dark one coalesced from the shadows, he looked tall, hooded, and featureless except for the gleam of too many teeth.

I remain static and try my best to hold back my tears which are trying so hard to pour out. “Do you know something, if I were you, I would have amputated my head, because you look so ugly and scary, gross. you make me want to puke. You should be faceless”She says and laughs out loud. I bite my lips while my heart booms so loudly, nearly coming out of my chest. She quickly pulls out my mask from my right hand and presses it on my face. “Aha, that’s more like it. You just go about scaring people and giving them nightmares. I still wonder why Alpha Ryne has left you in this pack, gosh.” She bawls and hits her right Palm on her forehead and wags it.

They descended to a private bedroom. As Becky stepped inside, her breath caught in her throat. Lying on the bed was a man dressed in white sleeves and black trousers. His face was entirely concealed by a mask that extended to his neck. The sight unnerved her. “Why is his face covered?” she wondered, unease prickling at her skin. The doctor began, “My name is Dr. Richard—” “Excuse me,” Becky interrupted, turning to Mr. Amos. “Can I speak with you privately?”

All I could see was Selene’s face distorted in pain and fear. I hated them. But I couldn’t let them die. Did that make me weak? Or human? A soft knock came at the door. I didn’t answer. It creaked open anyway. “Midnight,” Dominic said as he stepped inside. He wasn’t wearing a suit this time. Just a black shirt with sleeves rolled up, exposing his forearms and a silver watch that glinted under the light. His mask was gone again. He looked… normal. But there was nothing normal about this man.
