Dragon Bride Novels & Stories

Outside, the trumpets changed their tone — a sign that the bride was approaching. The crowd turned as Liora emerged from the palace gates, escorted by her mother, Loretta, and Mariseth on either side. She was radiant. Her gown shimmered like liquid silver, threaded with tiny crystals that caught the sunlight and scattered it like moonlight on water. Her hair fell in soft waves, crowned by a delicate wreath of white moon-blooms. Around her neck hung the pendant of the Chosen One — the mark of the goddess — glowing faintly as though alive.

The fire flared, casting them in molten gold. His body caged hers. But still, he did not touch. The fire did that for him. It kissed her throat. Slid across her hips. Sank into her skin like it had been waiting. Still, he did not claim her. He didn’t need to. The fire claimed her instead. But the court didn’t understand what they were witnessing. A dragon mating ritual was ancient. Sacred. Rarely performed before witnesses, and never before with a mortal. The fact that she still stood, untouched by the fire—wrapped in it like it was her birthright—made silence fall like a blade.

"Long ago, humans called me many names….but the one they remember most…is the Queen of Dragons. My stomach dropped. The Queen, not a queen, but the queen. Every child in Adengard grew up hearing stories about her. You know, Legends, myths, warnings. Nobody had seen her for generations. Well, I'm pretty sure nobody back home has ever seen a dragon, talk more or less of the Queen of dragons And now, now she was sitting in front of me making jokes. "You look disappointed." "I'm just confused." "That's fair." I sat on a fallen tree nearby because standing suddenly felt exhausting. Astria watched me with obvious amusement. "So," I said carefully. "Why can I hear you?" "Dragon bonds." I frowned. "

The bride moved like silk in current. One moment she stood on the dock. The next her red sleeve wrapped around my throat, cold as drowning. "Hungry little temple," she crooned. "All doors, no depth." Ava swung. The crowbar tore through the bride's veil, revealing not Aunt Lan but a skull packed with pearls. The pearls opened tiny eyes. [Grudge source: stolen wedding offerings.] Madam Qiao had said paper goods mattered. So did offerings.

There was a feast ongoing inside the marquee, Drokan warriors drank and cheered as two young slave maidens brutally and violently fought each other with knives. At the far end of the marquee sat Dorak Herra, drinking from a human skull. Dorak Herra is the name given to the leader of the Dorak Clan; to be a Dorak was a big deal in the Clan, before the Dorak becomes old and weak he picks seven women, either from his clan or slaves from raids. Then he beds them and waits for the result, if a maiden were to be born she would be trained to be the carrier of the next Dorak’s child, which apparently is her step brother.

Drako, literally means a dragon. GD looked up to her when she was busy looking over the sky after she opened the window. "Will you settle down?" he asked but Daeira only jumped in glee instead. "You know this is my dream of visiting my bucket list beaches. I can't believe that it is h appening." she said. GD just shook his head and resigned into looking over the magazines with boredom while a stewardess approached them to offer a drink. "Your highness, may I delight you of some hot wine?" she asked but GD just waved in dismissal. Of course the stewardesses were all from the underworld as well as the pilot. Hakyi and Osiris had tagged along too.

"Enough with the nonsense. Hurry up and get dressed. Lex is already waiting downstairs." With that, my mother yanked me out of bed. Once I got in the car, I closed my eyes and pretended to sleep. I didn't open them again until the car pulled into a remote alley on the outskirts of town. We had arrived at the bridal shop Veronica had chosen. The moment we walked in, she pointed to a wedding dress and smiled. "Catherine, this one suits you best. Go try it on." Numbly, I let the sales assistant lead me into the fitting room.

The most intriguing of all of the rites, has the bride and groom stand together, facing each other to recite their vows while standing inside a circle of fire. It was decided that this dragin tradition would be kept and that the vows would be the dragon vows. The way that the women would be escorted down the aisle was also dragon related. Long would escort her mother, who would stand there until her father handed their daughter over to the husband/mate and introduce her as their greatest treasure. "Is everyone sure of what they are doing and where they are supposed to be?" Shiwen asked.

I saw my father beg with his head slightly bowed in shame. I was taken aback by what he was saying. So the marriage contract was only for three years and it was three months left? I mentally facepalmed myself when images of last night came floating in. I just had to go complicate things further when I should have just let the contract elapsed on its own.

With a sharp huff, Cain turned and walked away, the crowd parting for him as he passed. Behind him, Vera lifted her glass. Orion met it with his own. They clinked them together, identical smirks stretching across their lips. And for the first time that night, Vera felt it fully— This was only the beginning. —— “Your dress is stealing the show, Ms. Vera,” Maya whispered beside her as they stood watching Didi and Cain stroll slowly down the aisle. The press were everywhere. Cameras flashed like lightning. Phones were raised high, people stretching on their toes just to get a better view of the bride and her gown. Vera overheard a group of women behind her murmuring breathlessly that they would
