**This is the second book in the Elemental Dragon series. While it can be read as a standalone book, references will be made to the first book, The Arena. As I step off Tana’s penthouse balcony, I shift, flying away from what I just heard. Tana, the last fire dragon, has been claimed. And by a Lycan no less. I can’t believe she fell to him. She knew he was her mate, but being mated and being claimed are two very different things.

“That’s partly what I wanted to add to the book. I didn’t remember until I saw it the other day.” I watch her flip through pages covered in drawings and diagrams. She pauses at a section in the middle of the book. “The red flame you saw, they call that the Phoenix. It’s the sign of a successful Awakening,” she says, pointing to a page filled with writing. “What’s an Awakening?” I ask. “It’s a very, very old war ritual. They used to use it on mortally wounded dragons, it heals them and brings them back physically stronger than before,” she says.

Then, my Sisters in the priesthood filed away, none of them looking back to me. I took a deep breath, and knelt before the mouth of the dragon's cavern, arranging some of the treasure around my legs. He had to accept the entire sacrifice, or his fury would consume the people. He was a dangerous Master, but when he was pleased, the island of Drachonia (even the island's name sang His praises!) flourished.

Visions flashed in front of Nya’s eyes as she tried to rectify what she’d been seeing for the last several days with the scene before her now. All along, she’d thought she’d been seeing Slate in his dragon form in chains, but that wasn’t what she’d been seeing at all. It was this other dragon, the one rising up in front of her now. He looked anything but happy as his nostrils began to flare, and it was quite obvious this dragon’s duty was to protect the Heart of Magic, which Nya could no longer see as it was hidden behind the dragon’s large back.

Despite this, their rule was just and brought prosperity to the entire continent of Endymion. Until that fateful day when the first human stumbled into the tallest mountains, where the dragons live. It was a man. A man blessed with a gift of tongue. A master of arcane arts. He came wishing for the young dragon princess' hands, claiming that he loved her so. And in three years, with his honeyed but poisoned words, he convinced the dragon princess to agree to his proposal. And for the first and the last time in history, a human and a dragon had tied the knot. The man had earned the dragon clan's full trust.

I said, the calmness in my voice surprised even me. The seer blinked in surprise, but nodded. He placed my hand on the sword and began some ancient chants in their tongue. He then poured ceremonial oil over my hand that was on the blade, and as the final words left his mouth, a flash of silver light appeared around my hand. "By the laws of the realm and the ancient blood pact," the high seer intoned, his voice booming through the chamber. "The bond is forged. Princess Diana Blake of the human Kingdom is now declared the chosen mate and wife to Prince Draven Volk of the Dragon Kingdom. May the Creator guide your union."

“Better than I expected. It helped that she believes that earth isn’t the only planet with life on it. It also helped that she was watching a movie about a dragon when I brought it up.” “There are several dragon movies out there.” Begin Lucas. “What movie was she watching?” “It doesn’t matter Lucas. Dragon heart.” I said. He laughed, “Yeah, that is a good one.” “So, three down, two to go,” Chase says. “Well, if all things go well maybe only one to go.” Says Gailan with a smirk. “You found your mate?” Asks Mitch. “Yeah, and as you said her scent draws me in.” “Wow, I am jealous.” Says poor Lucas the last one of us still single.
