It's the middle of the night, why did I wake up at this hour? But then I felt something... No, it was several things, and they were under my sheet, I felt them on my skin, lightning! They were like ants, I felt them running down my legs, but apparently they were big ants. With my trembling hand I removed my blanket from my body and opened my eyes in amazement. They were not ants, they were spiders! Huge spiders. I did the first thing I do when I see one of those animals: I screamed. I screamed as much as I could while I moved to get those spiders off of me, feeling their little legs walking on my body was not pleasant at all.

I heard the voice again, still in the distance but closer than the first time I heard it.

My brother snapped his fingers. Two wolf guards dragged forward an old woman. Tattered cloak. Sunken eyes.Her nails are black as rot. A necklace of dried viper bones hung from her throat. The old woman jabbed a bony finger at Seraphina. “It was her!” the old woman screeched. “At the border market! Three silver coins for a black widow spider! The spider had a red spot on its tail. Not deadly. But it makes you convulse, and mute for three days.
