My mouth watered at the sight, my once-dull teeth now sharpened into fangs. Oh my fucking gods. What the hell is happening to me?I had to be hallucinating. I freaking had to be. Once I splashed more water on my face, I wiped the blood away and stared at my teeth, which were now dull again. I mean, they hadn’t been fangs in the first place. They couldn’t have been. And my eyes … they were my regular color still. Nothing had changed. I just … hadn’t had much to eat tonight. I must’ve been seeing things now. Maybe all that face-fucking and closet sex had gone to my head. I needed some water to drink and something to fill my tummy.

He didn't say a word, as if his eyes were telling me to just continue. I cleared my throat, "Because of those dreams I start to fear water so I don't have any choice but to quit the swimming team. Most of the time I dream of that same dream, but sometimes it changes into another dream-- the same entity that's beating me to death. but the feeling's still the same, pain and suffering.

“Yeah… Do your dreams tell you things sometimes?” She nods, unblinking. “Do they tell you if it’s going to rain the next day? Can you taste it?” Another nod, but her lower lip begins to wobble into a smile. “Do your dreams show you… what’s going to happen the next day? If your mom is going to read a specific book at bedtime or pack a specific lunch before you leave for school?” Her mouth widens into a grin, showcasing a missing tooth. “Yep. Why?”

Alex's Pov I tossed and turned throughout the night. Images of Ryan's beat up face kept flashing through my mind. His eyes swollen shut, his lips burst and bleeding. And that snap of his arm. In my dreams, the snap was louder. Impossibly loud. It reverberated along the walls. echoed through forests. It tore through my mind, shattering my soul. I woke up sweating despite the air conditioning.

Emily replied Lauren sighed In relief. "You remembered a dream you had two nights ago and screamed like that." Lauren shook her head, "What? Someone you saw in your dreams materialized to you?" "No, if you put it that way." Emily said, a deflation in her tone, "It was a really scary dream. I saw a man, and In that dream, he was asking about his tooth from me." Lauren took a pause, inhaling and exhaling sharply. You could visibly see the paleness of her skin,as she yelled away from the receiver.

“The Dream’s balance is fracturing.” “Because one of them is remembering wrong.” She turned to him sharply. “Wrong?” He looked out at the horizon, where faint lights glimmered in the divine cities that had sprung up overnight. “The Dream holds memories like seeds. Some grow into creation, others into hunger. Someone’s feeding the wrong one.” By dawn, the first signs appeared. Miren’s garden, once filled with silver flowers, was blackened, the petals hardened into glass. The rivers near Eros’s mountain steamed red. The air tasted of iron and grief.

It feels like some sort of walk of shame, still wearing yesterday’s clothes, and instantly my brain shoves that night with Dorian back into focus. Like I need more reminders. The dream about him already has me restless, and I can’t figure out if I’m annoyed or turned on. I tug my shirt over my head and cringe at the damp patch clinging to my back from sweat. I have to be running a fever. At least that would make sense of the dirty dream. I let the shirt drop, shove my way out of my jeans, and think only of one thing. A toothbrush. I need a toothbrush. I rummage through the cabinet above the sink, then crouch down and yank open the one underneath.

No! I drop the tile and I realize the light on the box and the tiles isn’t from my flashlight it’s weird and green and there’s something squishing around behind me. I turn and scream, seeing nothing but a puckering mouth surrounded by waving, coiling things reaching for my face . . . *** I sat up with sharp cry, throwing my hands out to ward off what I’d dreamed were dozens of snake-like things slithering through the air toward me . . .
