Maddox and Jaxon were already inside when Drexton came in. "News?" Jaxon asked with a smirk, puffing out thick, dark smoke from his cigarette. "Hmm," Drexton replied. Maddox raised his head from the table. There was some white substance below his nose, giving him a mad look, fitting the short form of his name, Mad. "And play pet?" he asked, sniffing. "As expected, she came," Drexton replied, a wicked, sinister smirk forming from the corner of his lips. Maddox nodded and returned his head to the cocaine on the table.

"Don't you think I'd know whether Ms. Sanders has siblings? Where the hell would a nephew come from? You'll say anything to climb the social ladder, won't you?" He gestured to his men. "Bring me some liquor." One of his guys immediately handed him a bottle of vodka. Rex twisted off the cap, grabbed my jaw, and started pouring it down my throat. The burning alcohol seared my throat as I choked, my face turning bright red while the liquid spilled down my chin onto my neck and clothes. Rex's expression turned vicious. "Drink it! Finish the whole damn bottle! If you dare spit any of it out when Ms. Sanders gets here, I'll throw you into the underground arena and let all the guys there have a tas

Surely she wasn’t answerable to her mom now. “I’m at the hospital, Mom. Maddox is fighting for his life. Someone had spiked his drink with a high dosage of Gamma Hydroxybutyrate (GHB). It’s deadly, and he’s fighting for his life at Glendale Hospital. The cops will be here for his statement soon. The doctors want the entire family here.”

Max's POV The sound of the party buzzes around me, a constant hum as I steadily drink down more of this ridiculously good scotch. The burn of the Macallan is a welcome distraction from the absolute shitstorm swirling in my now pretty fucking drunk mind. What a fucking mess. I don’t have a clue what I’m supposed to do, or how I should feel about... everything.

I would have to drink all the beer in a brewery to feel even the slightest dizziness. I imagined Maddox finding out what I was doing to his daughters. He'd flip over and call the cops on me. The room was filled with several acquaintances I made in recent years and I endured the loud laughter, swearing, and light-hearted arguments over politics in the room. Why were humans so noisy? Maddox approached me, holding a woman whose bun was wrapped so tight I feared her brains would spill out. "CJ, my good friend," he slurred with wild excitement, clearly drunk. After Maddox's wife died, he married his bottle.

“Of course. Molly, just like you like it.” I pulled out the cash, handing it over. No hesitation. “Pleasure doing business,” he said, giving me a lazy salute. I didn’t respond, pocketing the bag before heading back to the VIP section. The second I dropped into my seat, Nyx smirked. “Took you long enough.” I ignored her, grabbing a drink and downing it before pulling out a pill. Dickson sighed. “Man, why do you still take that shit?” I flicked my gaze to him, slipping the Molly under my tongue. “It helps me forget.”

Any girlfriend of Bones was always bound to be hardcore. I turned off my bike at Mo’s Tavern. It was empty when I stepped in. Except for Mo, the owner, who was fast asleep on the counter surrounded by unwashed glasses. I banged on the table hard, startling him awake. “Jesus, mary and joseph, what the hell?” he screamed. “Where’s Mandy?” I asked. He was too drunk to understand me. I just started screaming Mandy’s name. “Mandy, come out here!!” Mo gripped his ears, annoyed. “Can’t a man get a good night’s sleep in his own tavern?”

Jackson stared at the light brown liquid glistening in his glass. He’d already lost count of how many rounds of alcohol he’d had, but he still couldn’t feel its effects on his body. He’d been drinking a lot these past few days. He felt like getting drunk was the only way to escape his so-called problems—if they could even be called problems. Andrei was being loud—he was already drunk and flirting with the women they were with. Sebastian was also there, accompanied by Claire, his sister-in-law. They were joined by Maddox, who had just returned from abroad after getting someone pregnant.
