I had to use it. Slipping from my room, I became a shadow myself, moving through the silent, fancy halls. The path to the dungeon was a dark scar on my soul, but I followed it, my heart pounding frantically against my ribs. I just need to see him. I need to know he's okay. That the poison hasn't... I couldn't finish the thought. The familiar stench of damp stone and despair hit me first. Then, the sounds. Not the usual quiet misery, but chaos. A roar of pure rage. The title of the book is unfamiliar to me but based on its appearance it is not like the books I am used to here at Wysteria. It's a hardbound book with a coat and its title is gold.

Its glow was warm, almost alive, and I felt it tug at me, like a thread tied to my heart. “It’s okay,” I whispered, reaching out, my fingers trembling. “I need to touch it.”“Selene—” Darius started, but before he could stop me, my fingers brushed the rune. The world spun, my vision blurring, and a wave of dizziness hit me like a fist. I heard Darius shout my name, but it was distant, fading as the darkness swallowed me whole.When my eyes opened, I wasn’t in the mountain anymore.
