“So stop sulking and locking yourself inside your room, okay?” Henry nodded, but there was still a bit of hesitation in his eyes. “That’s good. You’re a very good boy, you know that? Mommy is very proud of you.” I smiled. My eyes caught his wrist and noticed the familiar smartwatch he wore. I know I’m not mistaken. It was one of the latest technologies for children to have direct contact with their parents or guardians. My nostril flared. To think of my son having a direct form of communication with Madelyn pisses me off.

“I almost forgot.” Pippa opened a drawer beside her desk and took out a small silver case. Inside was a sleek, black watch that looked more like an expensive accessory than a medical device. “This is the device I promised you yesterday, Miss Estelle,” Pippa explained, handing the watch to Roland. “It’s the latest model. It can monitor heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen level and body activity for twenty-four hours straight. All data is stored automatically on the clinic’s server and can be accessed via a mobile app.”

“I want us to have a whole line of smart watches. I will handle the tech side, you handle the manufacturing, and Elena will handle the launch and the design. The aesthetic of it all. It’s gonna be a whole collaboration, a show.” I flip through her folder, and I have to say, it’s almost like she read my mind. “I was thinking about it since you approached me. I want to have designs for different lifestyles. Maybe different milestones. It would be a good launch to have during the holidays. That way people can get it as gifts.” “Perfect!” Linda says, writing that on her notes. “I see that you brought some papers as well. Give that to me. I hope they’re sample designs.”

“Sorry, Baby. I know this is just an eighteen-karat gold tiara. It’s the only one that could fit your head, but Grandma promises to buy you a pure twenty-four karat on your next birthday.” “It’s a beautiful crown, Grandma!” Eden exclaimed. Elise: “...” Belen: “...” Victor: “...” And to Elliott, Gabrielle gave him his very first smartwatch! “Whoa!” Elliott opened the box and said, “This is a Garmin Bounce. I read about this on the way here. Each watch costs thirteen thousand dollars!” “Oh, no,” Gabrielle laughed. “You’re exaggerating, little man. It’s only twelve thousand nine hundred dollars! Big difference.”

His eyes needed to do the seeing and any light could put his target on watch. He brought out his firearm, it was a glock 48, 9 millimeter; and he had two, the other was in his front pocket on his lap , in his black cargo pants. He wore a black face cap over his head, a black mask over his nose and mouth. He was wearing a radio transmitter earphones on before removing it and tucking it in his cargo pants.

I pull out my phone and i can’t help the chuckle that comes from my lips. Wow. “That…. That’s impressive.” Tieran gives a modest shrug that makes me feel like he’s really proud of this. He goes on to explain, “It’s a new piece of technology we’ve been developing. The rings are like highly intelligent smartwatches, just smarter, and easier to wear. They’re still being outfitted with features and the ones we are wearing are prototypes.” “My father was wearing one too.” Tieran nods, “Your father was the first person to purchase one.”

I know you’re really a purse at heart. Sighing over the insult to my poor handbag, I blinked at the fingers still holding out my cheese and noticed flecks of red and black speckling his knuckles with a bit of white on the cuff of his black sweatshirt that partially covered the start of a smartwatch. A smartwatch. Hmm, strange. You didn’t see a lot of smartwatch-wearing people in this neighborhood. Maybe he was a fairly successful drug dealer or something like that. Who liked to jog in his free time.

Then steadied. I frowned, tapping a key. The display glitched again, faint lines running across the surface before fading. I dismissed it as nothing, just a system lag. But when I looked down, I noticed something else. The smartwatch on my wrist, a prototype from one of our labs, was glowing faintly. I hadn’t turned it on. The glow pulsed once, then again, slow and deliberate, like a heartbeat. I leaned closer, staring as faint code began to scroll across the display, too fast to read, too familiar to ignore.

After a burst of thunderous footsteps, several women chattered excitedly, “Cooking oil, staples, fresh fruit, toilet paper—everything’s there. “They’re even giving out phones and watches… My son has wanted that HeartLogic watch for ages, and that EverCore Magic Fingerprint Ring too… “Each one costs a few hundred dollars. I couldn’t bear to buy it for him before, and now they’re actually giving it away for free.” The moment she heard the words HeartLogic Technologies, Nina’s breathing nearly stopped. She walked to the window and tilted her head, listening closely to the commotion outside. Amy Watson sounded a little wary. “How can there be such a good deal? Could it be a trap?” A younger woma

different from what I'm used to. "It's a military watch. A Garmin tactix bravo tactical watch. It uses an EXO antenna to receive GPS or GLONASS reception for satellite tracking. Plus I have synced it with my phone, and I want you to press this button right here any time that you feel you need help, okay?" he says and I stare at him like he's speaking Korean. "This is cool. Thanks," I say. "It is water resistant too and I want you to have it with you all the time. Press that button and I'll get notified where you are within seconds. Now, enjoy your little gadget, I'm going to sleep." He stands up from the couch.
