Dream Love
I didn’t want to cry in front of Marc and my parents.
Marc studied my face with a look that was a mixture of caring and worrying. When a tiny tear escaped down my cheek, he brushed it away with his thumb.
He leaned over and whispered close to my ear, “Rest in peace, my love. I will never be far away. No one will ever hurt you again.”
“I’m afraid to close my eyes,” I managed to choke out. “I’m afraid of the nightmares.”
“Nothing will enter your dreams, but me,” he assured me. “I’ll hold you and love you. You’ll heal in your dreams like you heal in reality,” he assured me as he lightly kissed my forehead.
