Elena I threw the door to Annie and Hannah’s room open. I grinned at them. “I have a cookie for the one that irritates Osprey and Gerald the most.” Annie giggled and shoved Hanna. “That cookie is mine.” Hannah eyed me. “What kind of cookie?” Toya poked her head from around my back before hiding back behind me. “It’s caramel chocolate chip,” she whispered. Priscilla bounced into the room. “I want in but I don’t need the cookie. I’ll do it for free.”

She’s never shown this much interest. We sit at the table and I pour three cups of tea. It smells of rose hips, lemon balm and chamomile. The sandwiches are herbed cheese. Some have garden fresh radishes and fresh ground pepper. Scones with strawberry compote and cream and small strawberry shaped petit fours round out the food tower. I take a drink of my tea. The temperature is hot and soothing. My body feels relaxed. “Luna Osiris, your tea selection is unexpected but delightful.” He says after a moment of silence.

Evelyn was sitting at a glass table, Alaric was leaning over her, and Luna was playing on the floor. I stepped forward and set the tray down with a flourish. "Ze dragon," I announced. On the tray was no longer a blob. I had used the icing to create a masterpiece. It was a fierce, crystalline dragon, its scales shimmering with edible glitter, its eyes two tiny, perfect rubies made of pomegranate seeds. It looked like it was about to take flight. Luna’s eyes went wide. "Whoa..." Evelyn looked up from her papers. She looked at the cookie, then she looked at me. Her brow furrowed again.

"Oh, babe, it's okay. It's my fault for not keeping you satisfied… I don't blame you. I'm just not good enough, huh?" Before he could respond, I added, "How about I grab you an éclair? That will perk you right up." Sean blinked, confused. "What's an éclair got to do with anything?" Suppressing a smirk, I patiently explained, "Our éclairs aren't just popular because they taste good. They're actually really beneficial for men, too." He glanced at the long line of customers outside, his expression skeptical. I pouted and put on my best offended look.
