Inside the room, I walked slowly and noticed Flynn crouched before it, with a flashlight beam dancing over folders and papers.
His head snapped up as the floorboards creaked, and he remained motionless for a while. Then he bolted for the door.
“Move!” I shouted, and we surged forward.
He raced toward the exit. Diego slammed it shut behind him and turned the lock.
Flynn spun with wide eyes, then drew a blade from his coat.
“Don’t try it,” Max warned, leveling his gun.
Flynn lunged. I caught his arm mid-swing and twisted until he dropped the knife with a cry. Max grabbed the other wrist and yanked it behind Flynn’s back, forcing him to his knees. Ella kicked the blade across the floor.
