He decided to keep acting 'Shaun' despite the magic's absence to keep approaching his wife. He wanted to observe her with his own eyes, but somehow his character as Shaun is reappearing for an unknown reason.

Kingston could see the entire island laid out before him and realized he’d reached the highest point of the palace rooftop.
