I keep staring at the entrance long after he disappears, long after the whispers start spreading through the room again, and long after reality begins to settle back into place. His father's head shook back and forth with each blow, as if it were on a spring. As I struggled to clear my foggy mind, I saw a figure standing over me, watching me with a blank expression. It was him, Soni's father. “I thought you wouldn't wake up anymore,” he said. His calm, low, gravelly voice had an unfamiliar tone to it.

Chapter four: the sins of the father **** Karen screamed, throwing the bloody box in her hands away. The sight of her father's severed head played over and over in her mind's eyes, his pale lifeless skin, his bulging eyes threatening to explode out of his head, the expression of pure horror and anguish on his face. I collapsed to the ground, overwhelmed with fear and grief, and wept myself to sleep. I was suddenly jolted awake by loud banging on my door. My heart raced as I rushed to open it, only to freeze in terror as I saw Sir Bruno standing in front of me, holding a poorly wrapped package. He handed it to me with a cold smile, and I opened it, my hands trembling. Inside, I saw my father’s severed head. The shock hit me like a wave, and I collapsed to the ground. Sir Bruno's started laughing like a maniac. His laughter was so loud that it filled the room.

“M-Master—!” Aria looked up and her heart suddenly stopped for a few moments. Blood seemed to be drained from her face. Her eyes were wet and second later tears fell down her cheeks. Her lips trembled, her whole body felt numb. Up ahead, a man with a scar on his cheek with a sharp gaze, cold and merciless, was carrying a human head whose eyes were closed as if death was nothing he was afraid of. “That is not Dad,” Aria whispered in horror, crying over the stumped head brought by the stranger. “That cannot be Dad!”
