Elena’s throat tightened. She did. A lullaby in Spanish, soft as breath, always sung just before sleep. She had buried it deep, but the melody still lived inside her. She nodded, her eyes glistening.
Miguel smiled faintly, brokenly. “Every night, I hummed it to myself. Even when I was drunk, even when I wanted to end it all. That song… it kept me alive. Because it was hers. And it was yours.”
