Edward handled most of them while I restocked shelves and learned the layout. Around two, a woman came in looking for a specific dark romance. "Do you have anything like Butcher & Blackbird?" she asked. "I just finished it and I need something similar." Edward looked at me. "Maliya?" I stepped forward. "Have you read Haunting Adeline? Or the Broken Bride series? They've got similar dark romance vibes with morally gray love interests." Her face lit up. "I haven't read either of those. Where are they?" I led her to the romance section, pulled both books, gave her quick summaries.

I couldn’t tell him what I liked to read. As if he read my thoughts, Sam added. “Elara loves reading romance novels too.” I couldn’t look at him, I knew he was grinning. I tried to save face. “Who says I like romance books?” “Your red cheeks and your age. What young woman doesn’t like reading about dashing men who woo their women?” “It’s not real.” I pouted. “No, but Elara informs me that it’s fun to read anyway.” He joked. “Besides, it took her decades before she’d admit it to me. I know the reaction quite well to the question.”

I didn't want to be a thief even if Gera was technically responsible for the thefts. My favorite of all the wonderful tomes was a book about love. The main character was this buff and dreamy human man with piles of muscles who oozed confidence. The woman he loved swooned at the thought of him, and it had very outlandish descriptions of human sex. It wasn't that way for nymphs, for one I'd never seen a male nymph with more than slight muscles and certainly none that made fire explode in my belly.

She pushed me back onto the sofa, her hands inching toward the waistband of my jeans. Still locked in a passionate kiss, my hand ventured beneath her shirt, while my foot urged her legs apart. Her shallow breaths resonated in my ears, laced with need and desire. I could feel my cock throbbing against her thigh, aching for her touch. The earlier phone call had soured my mood, but the sight of her rekindled my spirits instantly.
