Ava's POV We decided to meet at lemon drops cafe, which was my favorite cafe in town. Lemon Drops Cafe had a really nice and cozy look. The tables were made of wood and had small vases with cute yellow flowers. The chairs were all different, it's like they were collected over time, giving a homey feeling. The walls had a mix of bricks and soft colors, making it a pretty background. Hayden had to relent because we didn't do the photo box and chose to queue here instead. "Are you okay?" I asked Hayden, considering we didn't get to do the group photo. Hayden shook his head quickly. "Not at all. We can do it another time. And I want to prioritize you more." Hearing his words made me believe even more that Hayden was a frank person. We’re just going for dinner. She doesn’t want to overthink it despite the woozy feeling she has in the pit of her stomach and follows Harken inside. Despite it being 5 o’clock in the evening, the place is practically empty, looking like the early hours at Abel’s pub when the local drunks wander in for their morning pick-me-up. They pick a table near the back window and browse the menu in silence. It isn’t anything special, your standard burgers and fries with a few chicken and vegan options. Their drink menu is even less, with a handful of soda options and your average milkshakes.

Just watched her, eyes dark and unreadable. Before she could press further, the waitress arrived with a warm smile and her notepad poised. “Are we ready to order?” Elara snapped her attention to the menu. She hadn’t even looked at it. But her eyes caught on something she recognized. “Um… I’ll have the roasted lemon thyme chicken with truffle mash and grilled asparagus.”

We take the booth at the back. I sit down and the seat is warm from some previous occupant and the table has a sticky patch near the condiment rack that I move my elbow away from, and the teenager puts the menus down and says the special is eggs three ways and the coffee is fresh, and I pick up the menu and look at it and for a moment, just a moment, my eyes go to the eggs section and stay there. Scrambled. Fried. Poached. Eggs three ways. I close the menu and put it face down on the table.

“I thought he was quite arrogant to assume that I’d want him even if I was drugged.” I held my hand out to her. “Jimmy Jones,” I reintroduced myself. “Elliana Lee,” she shook my hand. I grinned. “It is entirely my pleasure to meet you. Now, what would you like to eat tonight?” She laughed, and looked over the menu again. “I guess I’ll get the Bourbon Chicken.” “Excellent choice. Could I get you the soup or salad? Our soups tonight are our famous Beer and Cheddar soup, and our French Onion soup.”

He bought this book. At the other corner of that street, he saw a café. Different desserts showcased outside at the counter, he can see them through the glass walls. He went inside the café, pushing through the glass door. The entire café smelled like caramels were melting everywhere. He went straight to the counter, looking at the long menu. Scanning every dish, from peanut butter cookie lush, cheesecake trifle, Oreo-chocolate mousse pie, black forest skillet brownie, S’mores Lasagna to cinnamon apple pancakes with vanilla maple syrup and more, also a variety of coffee like latte, espresso, mocha, Americano and also vanilla bean latte, caramel apple macchiato etc. made the list even long. H

I swat his ass with my tea-towel, as he squeezes himself between me and the counter. "Sure boss." He chuckles and darts to the back to get himself ready. With the coffees in one hand and a small plate of new pastries we are trying in the other, I walk over to Eamon and Cloé. "Here you go. We are also trying out some new things for our winter menu, let me know what you think of it." I smile politely and hand out the double espresso to Eamon and the Chai latte to Cloé. "Thanks Nikki!" Eamon beams and stuffs his face with one of the frosted muffins inspired by the Frozen movie.

This place looks very comfortable and warm. The waiter starts handing us two menus and we began ordering foods that seemed to sound delicious to our appetite. Hugo orders a platter of Crispy Cauliflower, which to me sounded something that I have never heard before. I ordered Patatas Bravas and Grilled Octopus, the usual. He ordered Boneless Organic Half Chicken for our main dish and some sauteed spinach for our side dish. "I think that would be all. Thank you." Hugo says as he hands the menu.

“Also, you poured like you were trying to sedate a bear.” Aria laughed softly, holding her pounding head. “Come on. I need greasy food and coffee or I’m going to die.” They threw on hoodies and sunglasses like two hungover fugitives and trudged downtown to the diner—The Hollow Griddle, Calloway’s beloved greasy spoon, nestled right on Main. The old bell above the door jingled as they stepped inside, and the comforting smell of sizzling bacon, buttery toast, and endless pots of burnt coffee wrapped around them like a hug from someone who’d seen some shit.
