“Whether she’s in the body of that Luna or in the name of Elaine, her soul will always be as corrupted as ours.” I freeze, coldness running in my bones, seeping in every veins and sinews. I hugged myself, thinking that I could warm my body. But no. I am Eliane. Like the Hearteaters, I am forged from the coldest pit of darkness, the aroma of death wrapping in my soul—Eliane’s soul. ‘A liar will never tell the truth…’ someone whispered to me. Was it Eliane’s? Does that mean that I shouldn’t believe anything that these beasts said?

She narrowed her eyes, lips pressing into a thin line before she leaned back in the chair, arms folded tightly over her chest like she was daring me to try. I exhaled slowly and stepped forward. “Her name is Liz. She was the Luna of the Blackthorn Pack, and she was murdered.” That alone made her eyes twitch, but I kept going. “She was also the woman who took me in when I was hurt and couldn't remember who I was or where I came from.” I turned slightly, nodding toward the bed. “Her soul stayed. I don’t know why. I don’t know how. But it didn’t move on. She’s still here, and I’m the only one who can see her.”

As soon as he steps outside, I hear her shriek. See, I can eat anyone's soul except Elena's and Elora's. They're more powerful, and it would take so much longer for me to do that, draining me of my energy before finishing. This obviously means it would tire me instead of instantly making me more powerful. So, to speed things up, I had to make this little potion to make the process faster and more efficient. Before the blade could devour Rio’s soul, a small portal opened that sucked Rio's soul into the unknown. Though he escaped into another realm Rio would no longer be a threat to anyone as anyone who is wounded by the Blight Eater their wounds shall never heal as it attacked the victim’s soul directly and destroyed the physical form in the process.

****okay so last chapter Devon got a little frisky with Jennifer. This chapter is all about her and how her feelings for Jennifer developed.
