My father was standing a few steps away with an unreadable expression on his face. He gave a small nod like this was all going exactly as planned.
I scoffed under my breath. “Defiled death? Elix, your father is a clown.”
Elix squeezed my arm lightly, then released it and stepped forward.
“Papa,” she said warmly.
