“Eli! Get your cute ass down here or I’m dragging you!” Elias was in his room, sprawled on the bed in sweatpants and a loose hoodie, controller in hand, half-focused on a video game. The cast on his left arm made holding the controller awkward, but he was managing. He barely looked up when Elara burst through the door like a storm. “Eli, seriously?” Elara groaned, hands planted on her hips. “You’re gaming? We have a party tonight. The warehouse one Ethan invited us to. Remember? Music, dancing, hot people, free drinks, all the good stuff.”

“If they’re still tapped into the network, they’ll see what I want them to see. And I want them to think we’re still sitting here.” Lily looked from one man to the other. “So what are we doing?” “Finding them,” Damian said simply. He reached into the drawer beside the console and pulled out a small black case. Inside was a compact communication earpiece and a handheld scanner. He handed the earpiece to Eli. “Stay close. Don’t talk unless necessary. If I tell you to move, you move.” Eli slipped it on, heart hammering. “You’re expecting them to come inside.”

Silence “The totally number of those going for the ball is 1230, everyone will move to the parking lot now and we move” Lucas said and everyone went moving, sorting themselves out. Loris located Ellie that was trying to avoid her, she stopped at her car. “Are you running away from me?” Loris asked “Why will I?” Ellie grinned “I thought as much” Loris checked her Alpha out “Don’t you look dashing?” “You don’t look bad yourself” Ellie commented, opening the back seat door and getting in, Loris joined her.

"Ellis." There it was again, exactly the same as before. Ellis sighed as he glanced back at the motionless form of Lyda. He didn't want to leave her or Adea, but much of him wanted to go see what Eran was calling him for. Maybe they had found help for Lyda. He would only be gone for a minute, he convinced himself. With Eran's bow in hand and slinging the quiver around his shoulder, he hurried off toward the black tree line.

But when the moment passed, I pulled back, left her breathless and wanting. The phone vibrated again in my pocket—probably Lana leaving a voicemail this time. I ignored the fucking bitch. We moved to the rooftop and Lex lit a joint and passed it around. I took a deep hit, held it, and let it settle behind my eyes. The high softened the edges further. Ellis leaned against the railing beside me, watching the sky explode. “You good?” he asked, quieter now that the music was farther away. I nodded. “Yeah.” He studied me for a second. “Lana blowing up your phone like that… you sure you don’t want to see what she wants?”

⸻ The next night, Lily secretly leaves the apartment. She doesn’t want Adrian or Elaine involved. The warehouse is abandoned. Dark. Silent. At exactly 11:30 p.m., a single overhead light flickers on. A familiar voice echoes through the building. “You actually came.” A man steps from the shadows. He introduces himself only as Elias. He knows Lily by name. He knows about the Fracture. Most disturbing of all— He knows details that only Elaine and Adrian should remember. ⸻ Elias tells Lily she has always underestimated her importance.

They need to earn a few more points to make it hard for the opposite team to catch up. Meanwhile, Elize's in school and Lindsey's with her. They'd just finished class and were walking to the next class when somebody called Elize. On the phone screen, she can see that the caller's number is unregistered. Elize looks at Lindsey, nobody knows her number used as an undercover agent. She has a number that is what she uses daily. "Why don't you answer, Liz? Maybe it's important," says Lindsey. Elize answered the call. "Rogue, it's Crow." says the caller from another line.

Elias sprinted, ducking under the shield, and slammed his fist into the turret. CRASH! Sparks flew. The machine fell limp. Elias’s glow flickered. Alexander grabbed him. “You okay?” Elias nodded once. “Keep moving.” They pushed through the stairwell doors— down into the depths of the Citadel. Toward Lena. Toward danger. Toward war.

Twenty-two and already playing 4D chess while the rest of us were on checkers. I let a slow grin spread across my face. “This is absolutely brilliant, Elis. Dad—” Shit. “—Uncle Leo’s gonna lose his damn mind.” I bit the inside of my cheek so hard I tasted blood, praying he didn’t catch that slip. Elis’s whole face lit up like I had just handed him the keys to NASA. That rare, goofy, full-tooth grin you only saw when his code finally compiled on the first try. For three whole seconds, the world felt perfect.

Dexter reassured her. "True, let's just wait for updates," Emma replied, her eyes wandering to the window. After Ellar left home and reached Riddle Corporation, he soon stood before the impressive building. As he gazed at it, his eyes showed a touch of mixed feelings. "Ellar! You're here! Why aren't you heading in?" Lulu's voice came from behind. "Just got here, was about to head in," Ellar explained, trailing Lulu into the company. Getting off the elevator, Lulu directed Ellar, "Go wait in Nicole's office. She'll be here soon."
